With over 14,400 square feet of space in the Mountain Holly Ballroom at the Hammons Conference Center dedicated for the 2013 Convention's Model Contest Room, there's plenty of comfortable, well-lit space available for the show!

Special Interest awards must be provided by, judged by, and placed by the sponsors during the hours the contest room is open to the public. Contest Notes:

In general:
1/144 refers to scales 1/101 and smaller (except for Aircraft Categories).
1/32 refers to scale 1/39 and larger.

In Junior categories:
Pre-Teen includes entrants through 12 years old.
Teen includes entrants 13 through 17 years old.
There are no separate Out-of-the-Box awards or categories.

In Aircraft categories:
1/144 refers to scales 1/87 (HO) and smaller;
1/72 refers to scales 1/86 to 1/60;
1/48 refers to scales 1/59 to 1/40;
1/32 refers to scales 1/39 and larger.
And unless otherwise specified, the listed Categories are assumed to refer to Military Aircraft.

In Armor categories:
1/72 refers to scales 1/100 to 1/60;
1/48 refers to scales 1/59 to 1/36;
1/35 refers to scales 1/35 and larger.

In Figure categories:
1/32 and 1/35 figures compete at 54mm.

Regarding Splits:
"Pre-Planned Splits" are listed here based on prior years' experience.  The use of splits will be based on the entries at the contest and determined by the national contest judges.  The maximum number of splits will not exceed five more than the number of "pre-planned splits" listed here.  In the rare case of a low turnout of model entries within a listed "pre-planned split", that split's sections may be combined or not utilized.
